Health and Wellbeing

The Importance of Wellbeing at Newbridge-on-Wye C in W School

At Newbridge-on-Wye Church in Wales School, we believe that the wellbeing of our pupils, families and staff is paramount to providing the very best education for our pupils. Our commitment to fostering a nurturing and supportive environment is deeply rooted in the principles of the Curriculum for Wales, which emphasizes the holistic development of every child. Our vision places wellbeing at the heart of all we do.

Why Wellbeing Matters

Wellbeing is not just about physical health; it encompasses emotional, social, and mental health as well. A strong sense of wellbeing helps pupils to thrive academically, socially, and personally. It equips them with the resilience to face challenges, the empathy to build positive relationships, and the confidence to pursue their goals.

Our Approach to Wellbeing

Holistic Education: We integrate wellbeing into every aspect of our curriculum. This means that alongside academic learning, our pupils engage in activities that promote emotional intelligence, social skills, and physical health, such as Forest School provision, pupil voice committees and whole school events and activities.

Supportive Environment: Our school is a safe and welcoming space where pupils feel valued and supported. We encourage open communication and provide resources for pupils and their parents/carers to seek help when needed. We work closely with our Friends of the School to improve our learning environments and to ensure they support us in working to achieve our vision for our pupils.

Personal Development: As a child centred school, we focus on the individual growth of each pupil and their individual journeys as they progress through the school. It is our aim to ensure that all our pupils flourish and reach their full potential during their time at Newbridge-on-Wye Church in Wales School.

Community Engagement: We believe in the power of community and we place importance of being the heart of our community. By involving families and local organisations in our wellbeing initiatives, we create a supportive network that extends beyond the school gates. We seek meaningful opportunities for our pupils to engage in community events such as the Village Carnival where they are able to feel a sense of achievement and to make memories that will stay with them forever.
